With Turkey Gambia, and Education Sign Agreement on Military Cooperation

Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar and Gambian Defense Minister Seikh Omar Faye met. After the meeting, the Military Cooperation and Training Agreement was signed.

According to the statement made by the Ministry of Defense, Gambia Gambia Committee on Defense Minister Omar Faye headed Seikh paid a visit to Turkey. As a result of the visit, Defense Minister of Gambia Seikh Omar Faye and the Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar met. Minister Akar welcomed Seikh Omar Faye with a military ceremony at the Ministry of National Defense.

First of all, Minister Akar and Minister Faye held a meeting together. Minister Akar and Minister Faye chaired the inter-delegations after their meeting.

Chiefs of General Staff of both countries; Chief of General Staff Gen. Yaşar Güler and Gambia Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Yankuba Drammeh were also present.

During the meetings, where views were exchanged on bilateral and regional security and defense issues and cooperation opportunities in the defense industry within the framework of Africa, Minister of National Defense Akar stated that Gambia is a friendly and brotherly country. Ministers also by Akar, emphasized the importance of training and development of military cooperation between Turkey and Gambia.

After the meetings, the Military Cooperation and Training Agreement, which was updated between the two countries, was signed by the Minister of National Defense Akar and the Minister of Defense of Gambia, Faye.

Turkey's military relations with Gambia

ASELSAN announced on May 1, 2019 that it exported night vision binoculars to the Gambian army. Night Vision Devices were delivered to the Gambia Armed Forces at a ceremony held at the # IDEF2019 Fair. Gambia Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Masanneh Kinteh expressed his satisfaction with the night vision binoculars manufactured by ASELSAN.
