James Vowles becomes Williams' new team principal
James Vowles has become Williams' new team principal ahead of the 2023 Formula 1 season. Vowles has a long history of F1 and, along with Team Brackley, has seen Brawn GP's doubles title in 2009 and Mercedes eight Constructors' Championships in a row from 2014-2021.
Vowles studied mathematics and computer science at the University of East Anglia and earned a Masters in Motorsport Engineering and Management. He joined the British American Racing team in 2001 and moved on to the Brawn GP in 2009. He worked under team principal Ross Brawn at the Brawn GP, and the team won the title in the 2009 season.
Vowles moved to Mercedes in 2010 and served as team principal for the team. Under Vowles' leadership, Mercedes won the Constructors' Championship eight times in a row from 2014-2021.
Vowles became Williams' new team principal ahead of the 2023 season. Williams has been going through a tough time in recent years and finished the 2022 season at the bottom of the teams rankings. Vowles took the job to restore Williams to his old days.
Vowles is determined to start a big change at Williams. He changed the roster in the team and developed a new strategy. Vowles believes Williams will perform better in the 2023 season.
Williams is showing great signs of progress with Vowles at the helm. Alex Albon has his best time so far this season with a seventh-place finish at the Canadian Grand Prix. Williams is currently in the same position in the Team Rankings.
Vowles believes Williams is a team that can reach the championship. He saw the potential in the team and said he would work to unlock that potential. Vowles is determined to get Williams back.
