Subaru introduced the Levorg Layback as an SUV version of the Levorg model, which has been on sale since 2014. Layback is named after a combination of the words “heritage”, “revolution” and “travel” and is eagerly awaited.
The Levorg Layback will be positioned between the Forester and Outback models. It is based on the original Levorg station wagon and was equipped with touches of Subaru's performance division STI and a powerful WRX engine. This means that similar performance characteristics can be found in the SUV version.
Levorg Layback seems to fill a particularly important gap in Japan. Demand for SUVs is growing in Japan, and the Levorg Layback is well positioned to meet that demand.
The Levorg Layback is expected to go on sale in Japan in 2023. The price has not been announced yet.
