Stellantis opens huge battery factory in France

Stellantis, one of the world's leading automotive groups, accelerated the transition to electric mobility. The company opened a massive battery factory in Billy-Berclau Douvrin, France.

The factory was founded by Automotive Cells Company (ACC). ACC is a joint venture between Stellantis, TotalEnergies and Mercedes-Benz. The annual production capacity of the factory is planned to be 13 gigawatt-hours (GWh). By 2030, this capacity will increase to 40 GWh.

The factory will produce high-performance lithium-ion batteries with a minimal CO2 footprint. These batteries will contribute to Stellantis' goal of reaching 2030 GWh of battery production capacity in Europe by 250.

Carlos Tavares, CEO of Stellantis, said: “As we begin this partnership in 2020, we have an ambitious commitment to develop EV batteries that will power our plan to transition to electrification in mobility. zamWe prepared a timetable,” he said. Tavares said, “We are moving towards our goal of net 2038 carbon by 0. Stellantis is actively contributing to the move towards electrification in Europe with its high-tech electric vehicle solutions. It also supports France in a sustainable future. "I congratulate everyone involved in the ACC for forming a strong coalition together to strengthen Europe's competitiveness."

The opening of the factory is an important step in Stellantis' transition to electric mobility. The company aims to offer 2030 electrified models in Europe by 100 and increase its sales of electric vehicles to 70% of its total sales.
