Alpine's performance in Formula 1 is declining. The team is 2022 times behind the championship leader Red Bull Racing in the 5 season. This led to an extensive personnel change in the team. However, Renault's chairman, Luca de Meo, believes the team will succeed in F1. “Alpine will be the Ferrari of France,” De Meo told Sky Italy. "The French have very little passion for motorsport, but that's only because they don't have a symbol to applaud, unlike what Italy did with Ferrari."
De Meo's remarks point to Alpine's potential to be successful in F1. However, in order for the team to realize this potential, extensive reform is required. The team must start with a new management team and a new technical team. Also, the team needs to be stronger financially.
