Uncertainty remains in KTM's drivers ahead of 2024 season

Pedro Acosta has announced that he will race in MotoGP next year, but it is not yet clear which team he will race with.

Acosta is currently the leader in the Moto2 championship and is a very strong candidate for promotion to MotoGP next year. However, KTM has two strong drivers in the factory team, with Brad Binder and Jack Miller. He also has a contract with Pol Espargaro on the Tech3 satellite team. This means that the only name that can leave his seat to make room for Acosta is the last Moto2 champion, Augusto Fernandez.

Speaking at the British Grand Prix earlier this month, Fernandez said he has extended his contract with KTM to stay on the grid next season. However, although KTM CEO Stefan Pierer stated in an interview with Speedweek last month that the Spaniard will remain with the team, there has been no official statement regarding the renewal of his contract.

When asked what he will do in 2024 again on Thursday, Fernandez said, “I have no idea why the decision about my future has not been announced. You have to ask them that." said. “I have a contract. We'll see. We know how this world works, but what I've been told and signed is what keeps me here next year."

Fernandez's future is not yet clear, but he is a talented driver and likely to have a good career in MotoGP.
