Autopilot investigation into Tesla

The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that they launched an investigation into whether it was enough for the electric vehicle company Tesla to recall more than 2 million vehicles in December due to an autopilot steering system defect.

In its statement on December 13, the institution announced that Tesla recalled a total of 2012 million of its 2023-2016 Model S, 2023-2017 Model

An investigation was launched after concerns arising from collisions that occurred after the software update on the recalled vehicles were detected.

NHTSA explained that it made software updates to resolve issues that appeared to be related to Tesla's concerns, but did not "make them part of the recall or otherwise resolve a bug that poses a safety risk."
