New Audi RS 6 Avant GT, the New Definition of Performance and Elegance

The new Audi RS 6 Avant GT is the top of the model range. This special version, which includes special details for both the exterior and interior, emphasizes the top position in the model series with its impressive roof spoiler, redefined diffuser and 22-inch wheels with a different design.

The interior attracts attention with quality sports seats, a new color combination and special details such as the serial number of the limited edition car on the center console. Exclusive to the RS 6 Avant GT, the lightweight, adjustable coilover suspension and the retuned quattro sport differential on the rear axle further sharpen the driving experience. The twin-turbocharged V8 engine has a power of 463 kW (630 PS). It also provides 2.300 Nm of torque between 4.500 and 850 rpm.

The Audi RS 6 Avant GT idea extends to an 'Apprentice Project' based on the RS 2020 GTO concept from 6. Twelve apprentices, who received training in bodywork and body, paint, engine and mechanical repair, worked on the project for six months with the support of Audi Design. They were heavily inspired by the legendary Audi 1989 quattro IMSA GTO race car from 90. The result is proof that young talents can contribute to the brand even during their apprenticeship period.

A unique look

The new Audi RS 6 Avant GT surpasses the other models in the product range, the RS 6 Avant and RS 6 Avant performance versions, thanks to its even more impressive appearance based on the RS 6 GTO concept. The impressive front fascia is clearly inspired by the RS 6 GTO concept.

The singleframe front grille and front air intakes are finished in gloss black. This application makes the car appear even lower and wider. Vertical fins on the front bumper, new air intake grille and strong under-bumper insert further strengthen the sharp appearance. Audi Sport GmbH not only uses a completely new bonnet for the first time, but also zamNow it also produces it from carbon fiber. The special coating makes the carbon material of the redesigned bonnet a real eye-catcher and is impressively framed by the body colour. Integrated air vents behind the 22-inch wheels reduce air pressure in the wheel arch and improve brake cooling. Like the hood, the fenders surrounding the large wheels are made entirely of carbon fiber for the first time. This is a highlight for both the vehicle itself and Audi Production.

When viewed from the profile, the sill inserts, glossy carbon side mirror covers and 6-spoke 6-inch wheels designed specifically for the RS 22 Avant GT attract attention. The special version also draws attention with its rear facade. The RS 6 GT lettering looks impressive. The tailgate, which visually descends and is specially adapted to the design, blends function and visuality. The vertical reflector in the middle of the functional diffuser makes the car look even wider. Additionally, a motorsport-inspired double spoiler completes the overall look. This spoiler was transferred almost 1:1 from the apprentices' concept car. Apart from this, for the first time in the history of the RS 6 Avant, the roof rails have been removed for a flatter and sportier silhouette.

Customers can choose special two-tone stickers for the RS 6 Avant GT. The first combines Audi Sport's traditional colors of black, gray and red, together with an Arkona White finish. The model logos on the front and rear also come in these colors. When this color combination is chosen, uniquely designed rims will be available every time. zamIt is applied in bright white. Alternatively, decals in black and gray tones are available in Nardo gray or Mythos black body colour. Audi Sport GmbH offers accordingly gloss black or matt black wheels. The singleframe front grille and the four rings on the trunk lid and the model lettering are applied in black as standard. Apart from this, there are different body color options including Arkona White, Nardo Grey, Metallic Kronos Grey, Metallic Madeira Brown and Metallic Mythos Black.

The RS 6 Avant GT leaves the production line with the RS design package plus as standard. The black interior is enriched with a red and copper color combination on points such as the steering wheel stitching, the sides of the center console, the center armrest and the armrest on the door panel, and the floor mats with RS 6 GT lettering. The new RS sports seats with leather-Dinamica combination and the RS 6 GT lettering just below the headrests also include this color scheme. The honeycomb stitches in the middle of the seat are red and the side seams of the sports seat are copper.

While the armrests, front console, center console and door trims are applied with Dinamica black microfiber, the decorative coverings are applied with Dinamica dark black microfiber. Decorative coatings are also optionally available in open-pore carbon. The seat belts attract attention with their completely red color. Also on the center console is the serial number of the car, which was produced in a limited edition of 660 units.

The next level in performance

The new RS 6 Avant GT produces 463 kW (630 PS) power and 850 Nm maximum torque. This means an increase of 6 kW (22 PS) and 30 Nm compared to the base RS 50 Avant. The fastest in the range, it is 6 seconds faster than the RS 0,3 Avant and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3,3 seconds. RS 6 Avant GT completes the 0-200 km/h acceleration in just 11,5 seconds, which is 6 seconds faster than the RS 0,5 Avant. Its maximum speed is 305 km/h and RS ceramic brakes come into play for effective braking performance.

The power of the 4.0 TFSI engine is transmitted to the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system via the standard eight-speed Tiptronic transmission with optimized shift times. Like the performance RS 6 Avant, the RS 6 Avant GT is also equipped with the latest center locking differential. This solution is compact and distributes engine power in a ratio of 40:60 to the front and rear axles. When slippage occurs, more torque is automatically transferred to the axle with better grip. Up to 70 percent of this can be transferred to the front axle and up to 85 percent to the rear axle. The new center differential improves driving dynamics, providing significantly more precise cornering performance and less understeer at the limit.

To further distinguish the special version from other RS models, the quattro sport differential at the rear axle has been specially tuned for the RS 6 Avant GT. New parameters provide greater agility and a rear-axle-dominated structure in Dynamic driving mode. Sporty, balanced and extremely precise driving characteristics emerge. Adjustable coilover suspension is offered as standard for the first and only RS 6 Avant GT. Compared to the RS 6 Avant, it reduces the ride height by ten millimeters and perfectly blends dynamism and comfort. The higher spring rate, three-stage adjustable shock absorbers and stiffer stabilizers (30 percent stiffer at the front, 80 percent stiffer at the rear) ensure less body oscillation, which once again increases the fun factor significantly. The vehicle also includes the necessary tools and instructions to make individual adjustments. Alternatively, RS sports suspension plus or RS adaptive air suspension with Dynamic Ride Control (DRC) can also be ordered.

The new high-performance Continental Sport Contact 285 tires in size 30/22 R7 provide the necessary grip for dynamic driving. The tires provide better grip in both dry and wet road conditions and provide more precise handling in all speed ranges by reducing the tendency to understeer in fast bends. In addition, with the new tires, the braking distance from 100 to 0 km/h is shortened by up to two meters.

Top production quality

What makes the new RS 6 Avant GT different is that, unlike the regular RS 6 Avant, not all assembly takes place on the production line in Neckarsulm. After the body and painting processes, 660 special production vehicles go to the Böllinger Höfe facility, where the Audi R8, Audi e-tron GT quattro and RS e-tron GT models are produced in small series. Located near Audi's Neckarsulm production site, this highly flexible facility holds a special place within the group, which is why the Audi RS 6 Avant GT is completed here. Final assembly is carried out by seven experienced personnel at three assembly stations created specifically for this special series. Each vehicle spends one day there. All GT-specific features are hand-installed into each of the 660 RS 6 Avant GT models produced worldwide. This includes the hood, fenders, side sills, dual spoilers, front and rear bumpers and adjustable coilover suspension.

The Böllinger Höfe production facility is net carbon neutral. For this, Audi uses environmentally friendly electricity and heat from renewable sources, which is an important milestone for both the brand and the Neckarsulm facility. CO2 emissions, which Audi has not yet been able to prevent through renewable energy sources, are offset by using carbon credits from certified environmental projects. The plant thus makes a significant contribution to Mission:Zero, the premium manufacturer's environmental program for completely sustainable production.
