Reason for Honda's Recall: Serious Engine Malfunction!

Honda announced that it is recalling 2014 thousand vehicles produced between 2019 and 250 due to a serious malfunction that may occur in the engines. The recall covers Pilot, Ridgeline, Odyssey and Acura models that use Honda's V6 engine. It was stated that there was a manufacturing defect in the balls connecting the crankshaft to the piston rods in these vehicles.

What's Happening in Engines?

According to Honda's statement, it was determined that parts that did not comply with standard dimensions were used during production. This can cause problems such as engine overheating, loss of power, stalling of the vehicle or engine malfunction light coming on. In addition, damage to the engines increases the risk of fire.

Which Vehicles Are Affected?

The vehicles recalled by Honda are:

  • 2015, 2017 and 2018 model Honda Pilot
  • 2016 and 2018 model Honda Ridgeline
  • 2017 and 2018 model Honda Odyssey
  • 2014-2019 model Acura TLX
  • 2015-2019 model Acura MDX

Owners of these vehicles will be notified by Honda starting January 2, 2024. Honda will check the vehicles' engines free of charge and make the necessary repairs.

What Should You Do?

If you own a vehicle that is subject to a recall, wait for Honda to reach you. During this process, pay attention to strange sounds coming from your vehicle's engine, your vehicle suddenly stalling, or the engine malfunction light coming on. If you notice any of these symptoms, take your vehicle to the nearest Honda dealer. You can also check your vehicle's recall status on Honda's website.

Honda's recall decision draws attention to engine failures, one of the biggest problems in the automotive industry in recent years. This problem is an important issue in terms of safety and cost for both vehicle owners and manufacturers. Hopefully, Honda's recall will help resolve this issue.
