Sargeant misses points at Monza

Williams young driver Logan Sargeant missed his chance to score points at Monza.

Sargeant stayed close to the points threshold for most of the race and moved up to 10th place after Oscar Piastri's problem.

However, towards the end of the race, he had a contact with Valtteri Bottas while fighting for 10th place and went off the track.

Sargeant lost hope of points by receiving a five-second penalty for this incident.

Speaking after the race, Sargeant said, “10. "I was doing my best to keep the queue," he said.

"I also knew that if I could hold him back, he would probably start to damage his tires and put him at a disadvantage."

“We were side by side in the corner and we both braked as late as we could, I grabbed the inside line but made contact and Bottas went off the track. It wasn't a big deal.”

“I have no issues with Bottas' driving. I was just racing hard and trying to get my first point, but what happened was my fault.”

“No offense, I will continue to give my all.”

Bottas also said he did not feel any discomfort from the incident.

Bottas, “4. “We made contact at the corner, I got the outside line, but he crashed and touched my sidepod.”

“In the end, I think he was the one who took more damage, so everything is fine.”
