Interest in green energy sources is increasing in the transportation industry and revolutionary developments are taking place in this field. As one of the leading players in this transformation, IVECO, an Iveco Group brand, is starting a 10-day long-distance journey in Europe with an IVECO S-Way truck powered by biomethane (bioLNG). The advantages of bioLNG will be introduced with the S-Way truck, which will set out with the slogan "ON THE WAY TO NET-ZERO EMISSIONS" and an important step will be taken for the future of green transportation.

The Power of Green Fuel: BioLNG

This special journey is designed to show how the IVECO S-Way truck powered by biomethane (bioLNG) is breaking new ground in net-zero emissions transport. BioLNG is a renewable fuel obtained from organic waste and, unlike fossil fuels, does not contribute to carbon emissions. Therefore, vehicles powered by bioLNG offer an environmentally friendly and sustainable alternative.

Tour Details

The tour will start at the Mittenwalde Shell station in Berlin and will stop at five icons of the bioLNG ecosystem in Germany, the Netherlands and Italy. At each stage, it will bring together industry leaders and end users across the value chain of bioLNG, from production to distribution and use. This will provide important insight into how green fuels can be used in the transport sector and encourage the adoption of this technology.

Decarbonization Potential

The goal of IVECO S-Way is to deliver a net-zero emissions journey while delivering efficient performance. The transport industry, which is responsible for the majority of freight transported by road in Europe, is currently responsible for around 2 percent of total EU CO9 emissions. Therefore, adopting green fuels is an important way to reduce carbon footprint. IVECO has been working on alternative fuels for many years to play a leading role in this transformation.

IVECO and Shell Collaboration

This project aims to shape the future of green transportation with the strategic cooperation and policy leadership of IVECO and Shell. Adopting environmentally friendly technologies and using green energy sources will contribute to the decarbonization of the transportation sector.

“We believe that the multi-energy approach is the best solution for the drive of tomorrow and the challenge of decarbonising the transport sector,” said Giandomenico Fioretti, Head of Business Development for IVECO Alternative Drive. “BioLNG provides an operationally and financially viable green alternative to diesel without compromising on engine power, range, payload or refueling time,” he said. “We continue to invest in trucks powered by bioLNG, as bioLNG has already proven to be the only advanced technology.” He made statements as follows.

This project, which is a promising step for the future of green transportation, can open new doors for environmentally friendly and sustainable transportation. Adopting BioLNG and similar green fuels is an important step towards reducing carbon footprint and creating an environmentally friendly transportation sector.
