Famous four-time world champion pilot Sebastian Vettel attended the launch of the 'Buzzin' Corner' project, which aims to raise awareness about biodiversity, at the Japanese Grand Prix this weekend. The project was supported by all 20 current Formula 1 drivers by attending the launch event for the new insect hotels being built on the inside of Turn 2 at Suzuka on Thursday.

Vettel's Excitement

Participating in the campaign, Vettel shared his excitement for the project and emphasized that stepping into life outside F1 was an enjoyable experience for him. When asked if he had any hesitations about returning to F1, Vettel stated that he had no such thoughts for now. “Obviously it's a small project but it's the best I've had so far this year. zamI enjoyed the moment and had a lot of ideas and a lot of reading.” He stated that the project inspired him.

F1 and the World

Vettel stated that he has been at the center of this sport throughout his F1 career, but now he understands better how big the world is outside and how small F1 is, in a way. However, he also added that this sport and driving racing cars made him long for it. “But it's hard not to be excited about the sport: it's an incredible sport and it's an incredible feeling to drive those cars. So yeah, of course I miss that. But it's the same zamFor all of us at some point in time to move on zamI also feel that the moment has come.” he said.

Origin of the Project

It was learned that the insect hotel project in Suzuka was presented to F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali during Vettel's visit to the Monaco Grand Prix. He stated that after presenting the project, Domenicali supported him and made it possible to implement the project.

Future Plans

Vettel explained that the project launched in Suzuka may be a one-off for now, but he intends to continue raising awareness about biodiversity by creating similar areas. Stating that other racetracks should also support such projects, he said: “This would be great, but of course this largely depends on the support of F1. Frankly Stefano has been very supportive. I presented the project in Monaco. He supported it and was confident that we could do it. So yeah, I'm happy we did it.” said.

Biodiversity and Climate Change

Vettel expressed his enthusiasm for biodiversity and climate change but said it did not become his profession after retiring from F1. However, he emphasized that this issue is an issue that concerns everyone and that it is important to raise awareness on this issue. “It's not my call, I think it should be everyone's call in a way because instead of talking about insects and their lifestyles, you can bring it back to talking about us, because we all love to eat. So who pollinates the plants?” He drew attention to the importance of biodiversity.
