Seat Changes for the 2023 MotoGP Season

Seat changes for the 2023 MotoGP season accelerated after Alex Rins announced he would be joining Yamaha. Rins announced a few weeks ago that he would break his contract with LCR at the end of the season.

The main candidate to replace Rins is Johann Zarco. Zarco has been a Ducati driver since 2020 and, although initially racing with Avintia, has been fighting for Pramac since 2021 with factory support.

Zarco had appeared in three races with the LCR at the end of 2019, and team owner Lucio Cecchinello said they wanted to sit down with the French driver on Saturday and sign the official contract.

With Zarco's signing to the LCR, at least one seat in the Pramac Ducati team will be vacant. The main candidate for the seat appears to be Marco Bezzecchi competing for VR46, but the Italian driver's first option is to stay in the VR46 team.

Franco Morbidelli, who will leave Yamaha at the end of the season, could join Pramac Ducati if Bezzecchi decides to stay in VR46.

Also, Rins' joining Yamaha will be just the beginning of the seat changes in MotoGP for the 2023 season. Other teams are reportedly preparing to make changes to their driver rosters as well.
