Mercedes C63 and E63 won't return to V8 engines

Just recently, we shared with you that the Car and Driver team claimed that Mercedes will return to V63 engines in the C63 and E8 models. However, Auto Motor und Sport has announced that these claims are completely unfounded and that Mercedes will not return to V8 engines.

This decision of Mercedes was taken due to the emission rules applied by the European Union. Emission rules, which are getting tighter with each passing day, have tied the hands of manufacturers. Large displacement engines produce more emissions because they consume more fuel. This causes manufacturers to avoid using these engines.

Rising costs are another factor preventing the return of V8 engines. Large displacement engines are more expensive than smaller displacement engines. This causes manufacturers to avoid developing and producing these engines.

We are aware that it sounds funny to think that brands are only taking these steps for Europe. But remember, the European market is still the most profitable for both Mercedes and many other manufacturers. Therefore, manufacturers have to comply with the emission rules in the European market.

Although Mercedes' decision to return to V63 engines in the C63 and E8 models will disappoint performance enthusiasts, it should not be forgotten that this decision is an environmentally friendly step.
