Kia EV5 Leaked In China

Kia's new electric compact SUV model EV5 has leaked in the Chinese market. Photos released by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) reveal the exterior design of the EV5. Although the images are aimed at the Chinese market, the EV5 is expected to have a similar appearance in other markets.

In particular, the production model is quite similar to the Concept EV5 that was unveiled in March, with only minor differences. These differences include the use of traditional side mirrors, the addition of grips not visible in the concept, smaller wheels and slightly revised headlights and taillights.

Kia's new electric compact SUV, the EV5, will use Kia's special E-GMP platform and will have a particularly high SUV body structure. Compact model, close zamIt will be officially unveiled at the upcoming Chengdu Auto Show. The pre-order period will begin in November.

The EV5's design offers a closer look to the Kia EV9. It also has a steeper SUV body style compared to the upgraded hatchback look of the EV6. The EV5 remains similar to the EV9, another model that will use the E-GMP platform. However, the EV5 has a smaller size and will be able to carry five passengers, with two-row seating rather than three-row seating.

Another important detail is the fact that the Kia EV5 will be powered by a rear-mounted electric motor. The electric motor will be powered by the LFP (lithium-iron-phosphate) Blade battery manufactured by Xiangyang Fudi Battery Co (FinDreams), a subsidiary of BYD. This engine will have 215 horsepower.

Although the technical specifications of the EV5 are not yet fully known, it is expected to have a range of over 77.4 km with a 400 kWh battery. The price of the model has also not been announced yet, but it is expected to be under $ 40.000.

The EV5 will be a key part of Kia's electric vehicle strategy. The company plans to launch 2025 electric vehicle models by 11, and the EV5 will be a key part of that plan.
