Gerry Convy says Alonso is not a team player

Fernando Alonso has raced for McLaren in two separate periods of his career. He first spent the 2007 season with McLaren, but returned to his old team Renault at the end of the season due to both his experiences with team principal Ron Dennis and his rookie teammate Lewis Hamilton that season.

Most of what happened at that time is still in mind and is still being talked about, especially Hungary qualifying and the espionage scandal has been on the agenda for 16 years.

The last person to take a lead on this issue is Gerry Convy, who worked for McLaren between the 2002-2008 seasons and was the physiotherapist of Alonso as well as pilots such as David Coulthard and Juan Pablo Montoya.

Sharing a photo taken while jogging on his Instagram account before the 2007 season, Convy criticized the Spanish pilot by stating that rookie Hamilton attended the camp and Alonso was not around.

In Convy's post, "How not to be a team player?"

“The photo was taken in 2007 at the McLaren Mercedes camp in Finland. This camp was a new beginning for all of us.”

“Unfortunately, new signing Fernando Alonso was not with us, while Lewis Hamilton was with us. This set the course for the season and made history the rest.”

“No one is bigger than your team or your organization.” statements were included.

Convy's post brought up criticisms of Alonso's team playing. Some argued that Alonso was not supportive enough towards his teammate, while others argued that Alonso only thought of his own success.

Alonso, on the other hand, did not respond to criticism, reminding that he returned to his old team Renault after spending the 2007 season at McLaren.
