FIA Continues Discussions on 2025 and 2026 Rally1 Rules

The International Automobile Federation (FIA) continues to discuss the 2025 and 2026 Rally1 rules.

The FIA's rally director, Andrew Wheatley, told Autosport that talks are progressing positively.

“We had a productive meeting with the teams,” Wheatley said. Everyone almost agrees. I cannot give a clear explanation yet, but we have taken important steps. We still have some work to do but I think everyone is starting to see their vision of the future much more coherently.” said.

Wheatley stated that he wanted to please all teams and said, “The key word is stability. We are working on the change that Rally1 vehicles will undergo after the 2027 season. I think all we need to do in 2025 and 2026 is to determine the business terms in which we will operate in this environment.” said.

Wheatley stated that the discussions on hybrid units are continuing, “There is a single supplier agreement with a three-year contract and we are coming to the end of it. We want to see how all manufacturers in the series will be affected by this situation. We've all invested heavily in hybrid units. The point is not to set a vision first, but to see if the business realities will satisfy all stakeholders.” said.

Wheatley stated that the negotiations are progressing positively and said, “We have a proposal on the table that is being evaluated by all parties. The next step will be to agree on terms. Everything is not finished yet, but we have clear data on what the next step will be.” said.
