DTM qualifying: Bortolotti beats championship leader to take pole position

DTM qualifying took place in sunny but cold weather. This resulted in variable conditions and fluctuations in the performance of the drivers.

The strongest contender for the pole position stood as championship leader Thomas Preining. However, Matteo Bortolotti had the last laugh. Bortolotti took pole with a time of 1:25.118, his first pole position of the season.

Preining was second, 0.160 seconds behind, as third-place went to Abt Audi drivers Ricardo Feller and Kelvin van der Linde.

After a nightmarish weekend at Norisring, Jack Aitken finished fifth this time, followed by Franck Perera and Dennis Olsen.

The best Mercedes was Lucas Auer in eighth place, while Rene Rast and Marco Wittmann rounded out the top ten.

Our representative, Ayhancan Güven, will start the first race 0.9 seconds behind from the 21st row as he could not keep the pace he wanted.
