The rule, which provides opportunities for rookies in Formula 1, became more active in the second half of the season.

By rule, all teams are required to attend 1st practice session with rookie drivers at least twice per season.

So far only Ferrari has complied with this rule with Robert Shwartzman at the Dutch Grand Prix.

AlphaTauri, McLaren and Williams were exempted from this rule as they competed with rookie drivers in the Bahrain Grand Prix.

Mercedes has announced that it will use Formula 2 driver Frederik Vesti in his first practice session at the Mexican Grand Prix.

Aston Martin has announced that it will take Felipe Drugovich to the track at the Monza Grand Prix.

The Brazilian will replace Lance Stroll, who left the last race without points.

Drugovich, who won the Formula 2 championship last year, soon joined Aston Martin and took part in his first training session in Abu Dhabi.

Drugovich, who has not been actively racing this season and frequently performs special tests with the 2021 AMR21 car, is expected to race in Formula E next year.

“I can't wait to get back behind the wheel of the AMR23.

“I felt great driving the car in pre-season testing, that car zamIt will be fascinating to feel how it has evolved since then.”

“Very good to help improve the car in the simulator. zamI wasted a moment, so it will be very valuable for me to understand how this relates to reality.”

"I've come a long way with F1 cars since Bahrain, so I better understand how I can provide valuable feedback for the team."

“I would like to thank Aston Martin for giving me this opportunity and our Brazilian partners XP, Porto Seguro and Banco Master for their continued support.” said.

Team principal Mike Krack said: "We are delighted to be able to offer Felipe another opportunity to drive the AMR23."

“He demonstrated his skills in pre-season testing and contributed significantly to the team's development of the car.”

“Monza will offer Felipe the chance to work closely with engineers and mechanics and build his confidence in a critical session for the team.”

“We look forward to making the most of this session together.” said.
