Mercedes entered the second season of the new rules with hopes of developing the zero sidepod concept and playing for the championship. However, Mercedes, which appeared to be the fourth best team in Bahrain, quickly decided to change the concept and hit the track with the renewed W14 from Monaco. Things have been going well for the team since then, but the gap with Red Bull is still big and there can be performance fluctuations from track to track.

James Allison, who returned to the position of coach instead of Mike Elliott at the beginning of the season, has set his goal as the championship runner-up. “At the beginning of the year we had the fourth fastest car and had to watch our customers pass us, it was pretty frustrating. Likewise, we were behind Ferrari.” said.

“Fortunately we are slowly leaving them behind. Everything has a share in this. All factors matter, from strategy to engineering to resilience and our drivers who seize every opportunity.”

“While we are behind our initial goals, it is important to at least reach second place, especially considering the pointer will shift to W15 in the second half of the season.”

“At this stage of the year, the wind tunnel is largely focused on 2024. A large part of the drawing office has started preparations for vehicle dynamics and production items with long lead times.”

“After the summer break, you will find that our factory is mostly focused on the W15, but these studies will open up opportunities for the W14 as well.” said.

Despite having a tough season, Mercedes is still a team that can fight for the title. Allison and her team continue to develop the W14 and prepare for the W15. We hope that Mercedes will perform better in the second half of the season and can be involved in the title fight.
