Despite recent reports, there is no evidence that Carlos Sainz has signed any preliminary contract with Audi. Talks are ongoing between the Spanish driver and Audi, but Sainz's priority is to renew his contract with Ferrari.
One of Sainz's associates told Motorsport.com, “Carlos' plan A is Ferrari. "Plan B will remain Ferrari and Plan C will remain Ferrari," he said. This clearly shows that Sainz wants to stay at Ferrari and does not want to move to another team.
Fred Vasseur does not intend to negotiate a contract renewal until the end of the season. He wants them to focus primarily on the SF-23, which will continue to be developed until the American GP. Afterwards, it aims to strengthen the technical team that started the design of the 2024 vehicle.
It's quite possible that Sainz and Charles Leclerc will both stay with the team in the long run if Ferrari offers to renew their two drivers. Ferrari is one of the strongest teams in Formula 1 right now and Sainz wants to race for the championship there.
