In the prestigious “Product Design” category of the International Red Dot Design Award, the MAN eTruck achieved great success with its exciting looks and design quality. The Red Dot Design Award jury, consisting of 43 independent experts, stated that the new MAN eTruck is a pioneering product in zero-carbon road transport with its extraordinary product design and was deemed worthy of the 2023 Red Dot Design Award.
MAN eTruck will start to reach the first customers as of 2024, and it has already influenced the market and stands out as a future-oriented electric vehicle suitable for long-distance transportation. He received his award at an event held in Essen on 60 June, at a special ceremony attended by participants from more than 19 countries.
The exterior decoration of the MAN eTruck, inspired by the panorama of the Bavarian Alps, impressed the jury with its polygonal pattern quality and details. With its design that combines traditional and innovative elements, the MAN eTruck draws attention by blending the past with the future.
Friedrich Baumann, Member of the Executive Board responsible for Sales and Customer Solutions at MAN Truck & Bus, states that this prestigious design award won by the new eTruck empowers his team from the final stage of the project to its market launch. Baumann believes that the new MAN eTruck is not only technically zamemphasizes that it also visually represents the transition to electromobility.
Founder and CEO of the Red Dot Design Award, Dr. Peter Zec, in his speech at the award ceremony, said that being the winner in an environment where a significant number of products compete with the evaluations of the Red Dot jury consisting of international experts is proof of product quality.
While approximately 20.000 products participate in the Red Dot Design competition every year, applications from 60 countries were evaluated in 51 different categories this year.
Carolin Schütt, who is responsible for color and material design from the MAN Truck & Bus Design Department, emphasizes the importance of being accurate and original in a rapidly changing world and in the age of new technologies, and states that they focus on the origins of the brand and customer perception during the design development process of MAN eTruck.
The geometrically decorated surface in the design of the MAN eTruck was created by the design experts of MAN Truck & Bus, inspired by the foothills of the mountain between Zugspitze and Munich. This pattern, which looks like a sculptor's work in progress, became a symbolic source of strength in the development of the MAN eTruck.
The neutral, matte gray paint has been specially chosen, matching the “high-voltage” red on the radiator grille. These details allowed the vehicle to create an energetic impression. This unique combination impressed the Red Dot Award 2023 jury and won the award.
