Speaking in the tunnel after the event held at İkitelli Sanayi Metro Station, İmamoğlu stated that the line will start to serve with partial sections in 2021, “In the first quarter of 2022, I hope that this line will be put into service by the Istanbul public as an important line with Marmaray. We will have won. ”
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President Ekrem İmamoğlu attended the rail boiling ceremony organized for the Ataköy-İkitelli Metro, which will be integrated with 5 different metro lines operating in the city. İmamoğlu, who attended the ceremony held at İkitelli Sanayi Metro Station on Başakşehir-Olimpiyat-Kirazlı Metro Line, was sent to İBB President Advisor and Spokesperson Murat Ongun, Metro A.Ş. General Manager Özgür Soy and IMM Rail Systems Department Head Pelin Alpkökin accompanied. İmamoğlu received information about the works from Alpkökin and contractor company officials in the tunnel to be welded. İmamoğlu, who carried out the rail welding process by wearing special gloves and glasses, also made his evaluations about the line in the tunnel. İmamoğlu said the following:

“We love this depth. Because now it means that the job is over. We are happy too. It means that the road is halfway, even about to end. Our Ataköy-İkitelli line, where we are at the rail welding ceremony today, is a valuable line for us. Especially with the İkitelli stop that we are connecting now, we are connecting the two lines, and with the 3 stations here, I hope we will put it into service next year. We care about this aspect. We are in an intensive study. It will carry 36 thousand passengers in one direction. In this busy area, especially our working workers are very much. Therefore, this will be an effective line. There were ground difficulties; but here both my colleagues and our contractor company have conducted a very rigorous process and we have overcome the problems related to that ground. Tunnel boring machine (TBM) fulfills its last duties in this line; He will be finished by June. After that, we will focus on electromechanical works. In all these aspects, we activate the process with the financing conditions of our contractor company, where we act very effectively and walk the road, and with the belief of my travel mates in this process. Partial commissioning will also provide a separate motivation here. In the first quarter of 2022, I hope that by putting this whole line into operation, we will have brought an important line that is also connected with Marmaray to the people of Istanbul as İBB. ”
There will be 5 stations that will pass from 11 districts
When the Ataköy-Basın Ekspress-İkitelli Metro Line is completed, with the Olimpiyat-İkitelli Industry section of the Başakşehir-Olimpiyat-Kirazlı Metro Line at İkitelli Industrial Station; With Kabataş-Mahmutbey-Esenyurt Metro Line at Mehmet Akif Station; It will be integrated with Yenikapı-Kirazlı-Halkalı Metro Line at Mimar Sinan Station and with Marmaray Line at Ataköy Station. On the 13,5 kilometer long line; There will be 11 stations within the boundaries of Bakırköy, Bahçelievler, Bağcılar, Küçükçekmece and Başakşehir districts. The line, which will carry 36 thousand passengers in one direction per hour, will travel 23 minutes from the first station to the last station.
