indicating the next 30 years will approach 10 billion of the world population will exceed 100 million and the population of Turkey Pakdemirli, "so that the population will increase demand for food will increase by 30% in the next 60 years; It even shows that the need for food will continue to increase not only for humans but also for animals. Therefore; It is of vital importance to read the genetic codes of the seed well and make the planning accordingly in order to ensure food supply security in the future. " he spoke.

Turkey's seed production area that is located between the first 10 countries in the world pointing Pakdemirli, said:

“Our certified seed production increased from 2002 thousand tons in 145 to 8 million 1 thousand tons with an 143-fold increase today. Again, our seed export, which was 2002 million dollars in 17, increased by 2019 times in 9 to 150 million dollars. While the ratio of seed exports meeting imports was 2002% in 31, this rate reached 2019% in 86.

In wheat plantings that find the most production area in our country; The use of certified seeds, which was 2002 thousand tons in 80, increased by 2019 times in 5 to 450 thousand tons. Also, the increase of certified seeds used in the production of barley, which has the second size in our country, was realized as 42 times.

Likewise, we can list these increases for seeds of varieties used in all areas of plant production. All these increases show that the seed sector of our country is developing rapidly and is in a breakthrough.

However, these increases are still not sufficient! Spreading the use of certified seeds in all of our crop production is the first condition for the development of our national seed industry. "

Reminding that the research institutes affiliated to the ministry have developed local varieties in different types and suitable for the conditions of our country and offered them to the service of farmers, Pakdemirli said:

“Especially, our Research Institutes that develop and produce 2020 field crops and 833 vegetable varieties, together with the varieties registered in 242; With their knowledge, skills and experience, they once again demonstrated that they have a great share in domestic and national seed production.

In addition, 2019 thousand 1 tons of the total amount of 143 million 466 thousand 503 tons of certified seeds produced in 557 were obtained only from 44% domestic and national seeds produced by our Research Institutes affiliated with our Ministry.

In terms of health, especially in terms of health, breeding studies of varieties with high mineral content and usefulness have been started in field crops.

"Turkey F1 Hybrid Seed Development and Public-Private Sector Cooperation Project in the Production of Vegetable Varieties" with a utilization rate of local hybrid varieties of vegetables, the last 18 years has been increased from 10% to 60%. In addition, the size of the vegetable gene pool in our institutes has increased 10 times and more than 8 samples of 15.000 vegetable species have been preserved in our 5 research institutes.
