Nobel laureate Turkish scientist Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar met Turkey's Automobile TOGG at TEKNOFEST, which TÜBİTAK attended as the guest of honor. Taking the wheel of TOGG, which is planned to be taken off the tape in the last quarter of 2022, Prof. Sancar received information about the stage and progress of the project from TOGG CEO Gürcan Karakaş.

VISIT TOGG STAND
Sancar, President of TUBITAK Prof. Dr. He visited TOGG stand with Hasan Mandal. Sancar, who received information about the domestic automobile from the company officials, was told that the factory in Gemlik is in the installation phase and that the construction will be completed by next year.
CAMERA DETECTING THE MOULD
On Sancar's question about whether all smart, modern systems are used in TOGG, he said, “The most modern and advanced radar and camera technologies are used in our vehicle. This is for driver assistance systems for autonomous driving. They have radar for distance to the vehicle in front. We use very advanced software. We have a driver monitoring system. In the vehicle, is the driver's eye on the road, is he drowsy, excited, worried or sad? We have a camera that detects them all.” the answer was given.
GET TO STEER
Sancar then got behind the wheel of TOGG, an all-electric SUV with a four-by-four-wheel drive system. Here, CEO Karakaş accompanied Sancar. While informing that the factory is designed to produce 175 vehicles annually when it reaches full capacity, Sancar said that electric vehicles are also charged at home in the United States. Thereupon, he told Sancar, “Yes, it is possible for us as well. Once you put it at home, you'll be able to charge it overnight.” the answer was given.
HYDROGEN FUEL VEHICLE
Sancar, together with TUBITAK President Mandal, examined the hydrogen-powered vehicle developed by TUBITAK Marmara Research Center (MAM). Mandal stated that the task of TÜBİTAK is to study the future and said that vehicles working with hydrogen are the technology of the future.
SIGNED TO SANCAR
prof. Dr. Sancar examined the electric vehicle named Sancar by young people from Bursa Technical University and got information about the vehicle. It turned out that Sancar, who signed on the vehicle at the insistence of the young people, gave permission to give the vehicle its name. One of the young people who introduced the vehicle said, “We had e-mailed and met before. We asked permission to name the vehicle we built. “Sancar” can reach a speed of 100 kilometers.” said.
