Cement Production and Exports Increased in June

Cement Manufacturers Association of Turkey (CBT) has announced the updated data. Between January and June 2020, the production was 12,1% compared to the same period of the previous year; domestic sales increased by 6,4%. The sector's exports, on the other hand, increased by 38,4% on amount basis in the January-August period.

Cement Manufacturers Association of Turkey (CBT) has announced the members of the Turkish cement sector with 2020 months of 8, exports from January to June 2020 production and sales figures.

In June 2020, cement production increased by 2019% and domestic sales by 59% compared to June 71.

In the January-June period of 2020, the production of the Turkish cement industry increased by 12,1% compared to the same period of the previous year and reached 29,3 million tons. Domestic sales figures, which have recently decreased due to the effect of the pandemic, increased by 6,4% compared to the previous year and reached 22 million tons in the same period.

In the first 2020 months of 8, the total export amount of the sector increased by 38,4% and exceeded 21,4 million tons. The 2020-month export revenue in the January-August period of 8 was 24,8 million dollars with an increase of 745,7%. Again in this period, cement exports increased by 48,2% to 11 million tons and clinker exports increased by 29,3% to 10,4 million tons.

In the January-August period of 2020, the countries with the highest increase in cement and clinker exports were Ukraine and Haiti.

TÇMB President Dr. Tamer Saka evaluated the export and 2020-month domestic market sales in 8 months of 6 as follows:

“As the cement sector, we have seen our prediction that sales will increase again with the return to normal life and the revival in the construction sector since June. These figures are promising, after the decline we have seen in domestic sales in recent months. If the negative impact of the pandemic is felt again, we hope that economic measures, including the cement sector, will be put on the agenda again and the country's economy will be supported.
