Kanal İstanbul Scientific Evaluation Book Released

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has made the report of the Kanal Istanbul Workshop held on January 10 into a book. The publicity meeting of the book, in which it is scientifically evaluated in terms of the effects of the Kanal Istanbul Project, will take place tomorrow with the attendance of İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu.

The report of Kanal Istanbul Workshop, organized by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality on January 10, 2020 with the participation of scientists, universities, non-governmental organizations and professional chambers, was published as a book. In the 'Multidisciplinary Evaluation' book, where the Kanal Istanbul Project is evaluated by 17 scientists from 29 different specialties, the following topics are included:

  • Movements and maneuvers of ships,
  • Marine transportation,
  • International maritime law and Montreux Convention,
  • Earthquake engineering, earthquake and tsunami risk,
  • Channel hydrodynamics,
  • Protection of nature and environment,
  • Marine sciences,
  • Groundwater status,
  • Integrated coastal and marine structures,
  • Traffic and transportation,
  • Physical geography, atmosphere, weather and climate change,
  • Infrastructure and treatment plants,
  • Cultural and natural assets,
  • New placements,
  • Meteorological parameters,
  • Spatial planning,
  • Environmental economics and environmental law

In the book, the issues addressed or not addressed in the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report of Kanal Istanbul and incomplete evaluations are detailed. The Kanal Istanbul Book will be shared with the public tomorrow with the introductory meeting, which will be attended by İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu.
