Technology giant Xiaomi continues to rapidly expand its product range in the electric vehicle sector. Following the SU7 sedan and YU7 models, the brand is now entering the automotive world with a brand-new SUV that will increase its weight in the market. The company announced the name of the new series as "SKYNOMAD" through a social media post. Simultaneously with this announcement, two new massive SUV models that the brand is preparing to put into production have also surfaced in official application records with the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
Large-bodied N90 and N70 models have appeared in Chinese records.
According to official confirmation documents, Xiaomi's new SUV family will be available in two different body styles: the N90 and the N70. The flagship of the series, the N90, with its massive 5.285 mm length and three-row seating configuration, immediately targets large families. The other member of the series, the N70, offers a more compact and urban alternative with its 4.960 mm length and five-seater design. Sharing a modern and minimalist design language, the front of both vehicles features a closed panel design and slim LED headlight blocks. The most striking aspect of the N90 model is its support for an outdoor lifestyle with advanced camping equipment integrated from the factory, such as a roof tent, a pull-out bed platform, and a projector.
Hybrid Infrastructure, Powerful Engine Options and Battery Solutions
In terms of technical architecture, Xiaomi offers flexible solutions for different user needs. The large-bodied N90 model is said to be powered by a range-extending hybrid (EREV) system where a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine acts as a generator. This all-wheel-drive version features two advanced electric motors with power outputs of 210 kW and 100 kW, accompanied by triple lithium-ion batteries manufactured by CALB. The N70 model offers both rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive options. While lithium-ion and LFP cell options are available, Xiaomi has not yet shared definitive range and charging data. The SKYNOMAD series, targeting nature enthusiasts, is expected to be detailed soon for global markets.
