Volvo is bringing the Apple Music app to more than two million cars via a wireless software update. Drivers who receive the update will be able to access their Apple Music accounts directly through the car's infotainment system without connecting a phone or activating Apple CarPlay.
Apple Music integration is being offered via OTA update to Volvo EX90, ES90, XC90, S90, V90, XC60, S60, V60, XC40, EX40, and EC40 models manufactured from model year 2020 onwards. The release date may vary depending on the car model and market.

The new Volvo EX60 will be delivered with the Apple Music app pre-installed at the factory. Initial customer deliveries will begin in the summer of 2026. This means EX60 owners won't need to download the app separately or wait for a separate software update.
Drivers will simply need to sign in with their Apple accounts from their car's screen to use the app. They will be able to access songs, playlists, and live radio broadcasts via Apple Music.

The app can be controlled via touchscreen as well as voice commands. Users switching from another music service to Apple Music will also be able to transfer their existing playlists and music libraries to their new account.
Apple Music provides access to over 100 million songs ad-free. The built-in app will sit alongside other music services like Spotify, Tidal, and YouTube Music found in Volvo’s infotainment system. Apple Music was previously not built into Volvo’s Android Automotive-based system and required a phone connection to access the service.
Eligible Volvo customers who are subscribing to Apple Music for the first time, or who are canceling and returning to their subscription, will be able to enjoy up to three months of free access to the service.
The campaign will run until July 6, 2027, and eligible users can activate their offers via the Volvo Cars mobile app. Existing Apple Music subscribers will be able to log in directly with their accounts after the software update.
The Volvo EX60, EX90, and ES90 models will also feature Apple Music Spatial Sound support. This feature, which utilizes Dolby Atmos technology, will work with the optional Bowers & Wilkins premium sound system available on select models. Music and vocals will be distributed across different speakers within the cabin, creating a multi-dimensional sound experience.
The EX60, EX90, and ES90 models feature advanced sound insulation in their cabins. The Bowers & Wilkins system developed for these models includes high-performance speakers calibrated specifically for the car's interior acoustics, along with True Sound technology. Apple Music Spatial Sound and Dolby Atmos support will play compatible tracks with a wider, deeper, and more immersive sound experience.
The Bowers & Wilkins sound system is offered as an optional extra on select Volvo models, available only at the time of ordering. Apple Music features, equipment options, and vehicle specifications may vary by country and market.
