Dacia has shared the first official hints about the next generation of its affordable electric car, the Spring. The model, to be called the New Spring, will continue the brand's line of 100% electric city cars and will this time be manufactured in Europe.

The Dacia Spring first launched in 2021 and has reached approximately 210 customers in Europe. Dacia is retaining the same naming convention for the new generation Spring. The model will maintain its focus on urban mobility with a 100% electric powertrain, four real seats, and usable luggage space.

The first image shared for the new Spring shows a section of the car's rear. The teaser image reveals the shape of the new taillights, the Dacia logo in the center of the tailgate, and the Spring and Electric badges on the left side. The rear fenders and tailgate have more angular lines compared to the current Spring. A more sporty design is also used in the bumper.

The new generation Dacia Spring will share a technical infrastructure with the Renault Twingo E-Tech. The model is expected to be built on the AmpR Small architecture. The Renault 4 E-Tech, Renault 5 E-Tech, Nissan Micra EV, and Alpine A290 also use the same platform family. This architecture, also known as CMF-B, has been adapted for low-cost, small electric cars and models focused on urban use.

The Renault Twingo E-Tech is manufactured at the Novo Mesto factory in Slovenia. With its front-engine and front-wheel-drive configuration, the Twingo E-Tech is seen as one of the models that will form the technical basis for the new Spring. Dacia's new small electric car will also be produced in Europe instead of China, unlike the current Spring.

Dacia has not yet announced the official launch date for the new Spring. The model is expected to be introduced in the coming weeks or months. Official technical specifications and pricing information have also not yet been shared.

Technical specifications, although not yet official, suggest the new Spring will be offered with a single electric motor. This motor is expected to produce 81 horsepower and 175 Nm of torque. A 27,5 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack is also a possibility, with an expected range of approximately 240 kilometers.

There is no official statement regarding the price either. The starting price discussed for the European market is around 18 euros. Dacia is expected to maintain its position as an affordable electric car with the new generation, just as it did with the current Spring.
