Nissan has officially unveiled the long-awaited new compact SUV, the Tekton. Developed on the Renault-Nissan alliance's joint CMF-B platform, the model shares the same infrastructure as the new Renault Duster, while adding a new option to the brand's SUV range with Nissan's unique design, technologies, and features. Initially launched in India, the Tekton will be exported from there to more than 50 countries, including the Middle East and Africa.
The Nissan Tekton is based on the CMF-B platform, the same platform used in the new Renault Duster, but the Tekton's exterior design features a more muscular and angular look inspired by the Nissan Patrol. The front is notable for its wide V-Motion grille, LED headlights, full-width light signature, and the large TEKTON lettering on the hood.
At the rear, a new taillight design, a different bumper structure, and Nissan-specific details are used. In terms of dimensions, it is 4.348 mm long, 1.815 mm wide, and 1.674 mm high. The wheelbase is 2.657 mm, and the ground clearance is 212 mm.
While the cabin architecture is retained from the Renault Duster, Nissan has given the interior its own unique character with different upholstery, color combinations, and trim pieces. A digital instrument panel, a 10,1-inch infotainment screen, panoramic glass roof, wireless smartphone connectivity, wireless charging unit, 360-degree camera system, electric driver's seat, and advanced driver assistance systems are included in the equipment list.
The engine options also share a common structure with the Duster. The entry-level model features a 1.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing 100 horsepower and 166 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. Higher trim levels offer a 1.3-liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing 163 horsepower and 280 Nm of torque. This engine can be chosen with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed wet-type dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Nissan is not offering the powerful hybrid system found in the Renault Duster in the Tekton. Before its official launch, the Tekton managed to achieve a 5-star rating in Bharat NCAP crash tests, placing it among the most competitive SUV models in its segment in terms of safety. The starting price for the Tekton in India has been announced as 1.049.000 rupees (approximately 517 TL). Orders have begun, and the first deliveries will take place on July 20th.
