Honda has announced it is integrating the Google Gemini AI assistant into select models to enhance the in-car digital experience. The new system replaces the existing Google Assistant, offering drivers a more comprehensive experience with natural language support and improved conversational capabilities.
Google Gemini is coming to Honda vehicles.
Unlike classic voice command systems in Honda vehicles, Google Gemini will be able to understand natural speech and preserve its context. In this regard, it will be able to interpret commands more accurately by learning user habits. It will also have capabilities such as providing news summaries, recommending nearby restaurants, creating travel plans, and generating opinions on various topics.
The bad news is that Google Gemini support isn't available on all Honda models. Google Gemini is only available on vehicles with Google's built-in infrastructure. Therefore, many entry-level Honda models will miss out on the new AI support. For example, in the US, only the Civic Si and Sport Touring Hybrid versions of the five trim levels of the Civic Sedan come with Gemini support.
The three more affordable trim packages do not offer this feature. The situation is different for electric and hybrid models. While Gemini is standard on all versions of the discontinued Honda Prologue, the upcoming Prelude will also include this system in all trim levels. From the 2026 model year onwards, all Pilot and Passport SUV models will also gain Google Gemini support.
In contrast, only the Sport Touring Hybrid version of the CR-V offers this feature, while the Ridgeline pick-up and Odyssey minivan models do not have Gemini support in the current model year.
