Honda has facelifted its City model, a key player in the affordable sedan segment. Officially launched in the Indian market, the new generation City offers significant updates in design and technology. Despite the rise of the SUV market, Honda is demonstrating that it hasn't abandoned the sedan category.
The most noticeable changes in the new City are concentrated in the front design. The vehicle has a modern look inspired by the larger Honda Accord and Civic models. Slimmer LED headlights, a full-width LED light bar, a new honeycomb-patterned front grille, and an aggressive bumper design give the car a more sporty profile. Honda has also aimed for a simpler aesthetic by reducing the chrome details from the previous model. At the rear, redesigned LED taillights, an updated bumper structure, and diffuser-like details stand out. The brand also offers diamond-cut 16-inch wheels and a new Crystal Black Pearl color option.
Significant Leap in Technology and Comfort Features
While interior design changes are limited, significant technological advancements have been made. The most notable update is the new 10.1-inch multimedia system replacing the 8-inch screen. The system comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. The vehicle's equipment list now includes ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera system, a sunroof, ambient lighting, a wireless charging unit, an 8-speaker sound system, and Level 2 ADAS driver assistance systems. Honda hasn't stopped there; an electric parking brake and an ivory leather upholstery option are also offered.
Engine Options: Petrol and Hybrid
The new City, which hasn't undergone major changes under the hood, uses a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder gasoline engine in its standard version. The engine produces 121 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque and is available with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT transmission. The hybrid version retains Honda's e:HEV system. Producing 126 horsepower and 253 Nm of torque, the hybrid unit is only available with the e-CVT transmission. Honda has announced a 5-year warranty for the hybrid components.
According to pricing announced in the Indian market, the standard 1.5 MT SV version starts at around $12.500. The CVT ZX+ version is around $17.900, while the hybrid e:HEV model reaches approximately $22.000. This pricing makes the City an attractive option for users looking for an affordable sedan. The model, which was sold in the Turkish market for a period, is not currently on the official sales list; however, given the hybrid transformation in the sedan market, there is a possibility that Honda may reconsider the City in the future.
