Chinese technology giant Xiaomi has introduced its new generation of automated charging dock systems for electric vehicles. This technology allows the vehicle to connect to the charging station without requiring driver intervention.

The system is scheduled to be commercially launched in the fourth quarter of 2026. With this solution, Xiaomi aims to make electric vehicle ownership more effortless.

Technology that eliminates driver intervention.

The automatic charging arm is designed to work seamlessly with intelligent parking functions. Once the vehicle is parked, the robotic arm detects the vehicle's position and automatically connects the charging cable.

The process ends automatically when charging is complete or when a user-defined limit is reached. The robotic arm disconnects the charging cable from the vehicle, making the entire process fully autonomous.

Users will also have the option to remotely initiate charging via the mobile app. No physical intervention will be required as long as the vehicle is within the robotic arm's operating range.

Xiaomi stated that this system is not a concept study and has been tested in a real-world environment. The company emphasizes that all the functions shown in the video are ready for production.

Competition is heating up in the autonomous charging sector.

Xiaomi isn't the only company developing autonomous charging solutions for electric vehicles. Other major players in the industry are also working on similar technologies.

Li Auto is among the companies developing their own automated charging robot. The company's CEO, Li Xiang, believes that future electric vehicle ecosystems will be integrated with smart parking and autonomous driving.

Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance also showcased a similar system with its Aito M8 model. This system enables the vehicle to park itself and open the charging port via a robotic arm.
