Tesla has accelerated its efforts to expand its AI and autonomous driving technologies, which have garnered significant attention worldwide, to global markets. A formal presentation by Ashok Elluswamy, Vice President of AI, at the CVPR 2026 conference highlighted a historic milestone for the electric vehicle ecosystem in Türkiye.

The global roadmap shared in the presentation showed that Tesla has completed its legal applications to local authorities for its Full Self-Driving (FSD) system, and Türkiye is listed in the "countries awaiting official approval" category. This move fully opens the door to the era of AI-powered driverless vehicles on Turkish roads.

Tesla FSD Türkiye Application Process and Global Roadmap

Tesla's autonomous driving architecture has gained significant momentum in recent months in terms of compliance with European regulations. Having recently received official approvals from countries such as the Netherlands, Estonia, and Lithuania, the automotive giant has initiated steps to roll out its FSD software across the European continent and simultaneously in the Turkish market. The Tesla FSD Turkey application process, conducted with relevant ministries and information technology regulatory bodies, will come into effect as soon as it passes the legal approval mechanisms.

Once the system is officially launched, users in Türkiye will be able to entrust the steering wheel of their vehicles to artificial intelligence without having to install any additional equipment, provided they have the relevant package. The software will legally enable advanced autonomous capabilities such as city navigation, intersection turning, traffic light detection, and lane changing.

What will the pricing and AI4 hardware criteria be in Türkiye?

Tesla has also prepared its commercial infrastructure in Türkiye in advance to accommodate this major technological transformation. Having recently ended its high-cost, one-time package sales model, Tesla Turkey has launched a subscription system at a monthly cost of 4.990 TL to make autonomous driving more accessible.

The most critical technical limitation in this system, which will be implemented as soon as legal approval is granted, lies in the hardware generation. In line with European regulatory compliance, it is stated that initially, only vehicles equipped with the latest generation AI4 (Hardware 4) computer and camera set will be able to use the FSD system at full performance. Tesla, which has been collecting data locally for months on road signs, lanes, and complex traffic structures in Turkey through Istanbul-based vehicle operators and training artificial intelligence, will virtually usher in a new era in electric vehicle competition in our country once legal obstacles are removed.
