Japanese automaker Honda has recalled 1,049,883 vehicles across the United States due to a technical issue found in its tire repair kit. According to a statement released Wednesday by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), dangerously high levels of pressure can build up in the tire seal tube. This can cause the tube cap to suddenly eject, posing a serious risk of injury to occupants.

The recall specifically targets certain Honda Accord Hybrid, CR-V Hybrid, and CR-V Fuel Cell EV models. Repair kits used in these vehicles will have their nozzles and sealing tubes replaced free of charge. Authorized Honda service centers will perform the work, and no fees will be charged to vehicle owners.

The company will cover all costs of the changeover operation.

Honda announced it will cover all logistics and labor costs for the replacement operation during the recall process. Dealers will contact affected vehicle owners to quickly initiate the necessary part replacements. Engineering analyses indicate the problem stems from the packaging and pressure structure of the sealant chemical, directly impacting safety.
