Italian car manufacturer Ferrari has made history by deciding to submit its vehicles to Euro NCAP crash tests. The brand had never before subjected any of its models to the rigorous testing processes of an independent safety organization since its founding.
This tradition comes to an end with the recently introduced Luce, the first electric Ferrari model. Ferrari had previously avoided these tests due to high costs and the brand's image.
A €2 million investment in safety testing.
Euro NCAP's comprehensive testing program requires manufacturers to sacrifice a certain number of cars for use in crash tests. At least four Luce models, each with a price tag exceeding €500, are planned for use in this process.

These vehicles, with a total sales value of 2 million euros, are being discarded to prove their safety standards. This move makes the Luce model the most expensive car ever tested by Euro NCAP.
Family-focused design and battery safety.
Ferrari's decision to undertake this costly process is primarily driven by the target audience and intended use of the Luce model. With its five-door and five-seater design, the car was developed as a suitable family vehicle for everyday use.
