Chinese manufacturer Chery has attracted attention with its new pickup model. Equipped with a diesel hybrid system, the Stockman aims to change the balance in the segment by offering a range of 170 km in electric mode.

One of the most striking features of the new Chery Stockman is its power unit. The vehicle features a plug-in hybrid system that operates in series and parallel. At the heart of the system is a 2.5-liter twin-turbo diesel engine producing 282 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque.
Chery states that this motor achieves a thermal efficiency level of 47 percent. The rear-mounted battery pack provides the vehicle with a fully electric driving range of up to 170 kilometers.
Ready for the field with three differential locks.
Chery, also prioritizing off-road performance, has equipped the Stockman with a low-ratio transfer case. In addition, three independent differential locks located at the front, middle, and rear offer high traction capability in challenging off-road conditions.
The company also announced that a version with only an internal combustion engine will be produced to meet the needs of different markets.
It can carry 1 ton of load and pull 3.500 kg.
The model is also impressive in terms of carrying and towing capacity, offering a load capacity of 1.000 kilograms. In addition, it stands out with its towing capacity of 3.500 kilograms with a braked trailer.
Large dimensions and striking design.
In terms of dimensions, the Chery Stockman is positioned in the mid-size pickup truck class with a length of 5.450 mm, a width of 1.920 mm, and a height of 1.925 mm.
In terms of design, the wide front grille, circular LED headlights, and prominent fenders stand out. The model, with its twin-cab body structure, is built on the platform that the brand calls Kaitan Architecture.

The cabin features a dual-screen infotainment system, a leather-covered steering wheel, and an electronic gear selector. In addition, comfort features such as a panoramic glass roof, heated seats, and automatic climate control are offered.

Chery aims to increase competition in the global pickup market with the new Stockman. The model specifically targets the Great Wall Motor Cannon series, while also competing against next-generation plug-in hybrid rivals such as the BYD pickup model currently under development and the BYD Shark.
