As the electric vehicle revolution continues unabated, the new BMW iX3 model, the first representative of BMW's "Neue Klasse" (New Class) architecture shaping the future, is hitting Turkish roads with a special driving event held in the Rize-Artvin region.

According to details shared by Borusan Automotive officials, the new iX3, equipped with innovative technologies such as high efficiency, 800-volt fast charging infrastructure, and "Heart of Joy," aims to change the balance in the premium electric SUV segment. So, how has BMW performed in sales in our country in the past period? Let's take a closer look at the current data.

Competition is heating up in the premium electric vehicle market.

The automotive sector is undergoing a radical transformation centered on electrification, digitalization, and sustainability. Looking at the 2025 data, we clearly see that this transformation is directly reflected in market shares. In 2025, when the Turkish premium car market closed with approximately 153 units sold, BMW achieved a record sales figure of 34 units, dominating approximately 30% of the market. The brand's growth rate was recorded at 32%.

Although the market experienced a contraction in the first four months of 2026 due to challenging economic conditions and tight monetary policies, BMW maintained its strength by delivering 6,700 vehicles.

A particularly noteworthy detail is that 50% of the vehicles delivered were fully electric and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models. This demonstrates the steady increase in demand for electric vehicles.

Rebirth with Neue Klasse Architecture

BMW's approach, which it calls "Neue Klasse," is not actually a completely new idea. In the 1960s, the company resurrected the brand with a similar transformation, laying the foundation for today's legendary 3 Series and 5 Series. Now, the same philosophy is embodied again in the new BMW iX3 model, for a fully electric future.

The new iX3 is not just a continuation of previous generations; its architecture, developed from scratch, represents a turning point in automotive technology. All new BMW models to be introduced in the coming years will also be based on this architecture.

Heart of Joy and Intelligent Driving Dynamics

One of the most important technological innovations in the vehicle is the central processing unit, called "Heart of Joy." This system allows four different computers to manage all the hardware and software functions of the car under a single umbrella. For users, this means an intuitive driving experience ("Symbiotic Drive") and a strong bond established between them and the car.

The 800-volt charging architecture under the hood of the new iX3 meets expectations for long range while significantly reducing charging times. Users can now recharge their batteries and continue their journeys much faster than before. At the same time, a highly efficient regeneration system greatly supports the vehicle's range in both urban and highway driving.

Sustainability and Future Vision

Another striking aspect of the new model is its sustainability principles. The iX3 not only offers zero emissions during operation, but also demonstrates an environmentally friendly character in its production process. BMW's new generation factory in Debrecen, Hungary, was designed entirely in accordance with circular economy and sustainability standards. The recycled materials used in the vehicle show how seriously the company takes its carbon footprint reduction goals.

In the premium D-SUV electric market, the BMW iX3 is not alone. It faces competition from the Tesla Model Y, a best-selling model in the market known for its technology and production speed. Among German competitors, the Audi Q6 e-tron, which uses the PPE platform developed jointly with Porsche and, like the iX3, supports 800-volt charging, presents a very strong alternative. On the Mercedes-Benz side, the comfort-focused EQE SUV and the city-practical EQB models are vying for a share of the market.

The BMW iX3 aims to differentiate itself from its competitors by blending traditional driving dynamics with innovative software infrastructure and the efficiency of the 800V architecture, creating a far more driver-focused and sporty car. The brand's long-standing motto of "driving pleasure" is combined with the capabilities of the digital world in this vehicle.

Pre-orders are being delivered.

The new BMW iX3, for which pre-orders have been collected since mid-February, has been receiving intense interest since its arrival in Türkiye. The first batch of 100 units has already been delivered to their owners. In this new era of electric vehicle competition, where technology, range, and software integration are paramount, it is clear that the Neue Klasse architecture will bring a breath of fresh air to the sector.
