A notable warning has been issued in the luxury car world: even those who love the AMG series are affected. Mercedes-Benz has announced a recall of 144 vehicles due to the risk of screen dimming. The list includes models such as the AMG GT, C-Class, E-Class, SL, CLE, and GLC; even high-performance versions like the C63 SE Performance are included in this recall.
Allegedly, the problem arises from the system triggering an excessive number of restarts during its expected backup operation, temporarily interrupting the information displayed on the indicators. One of the most striking aspects is that drivers reportedly received no warning messages before experiencing this malfunction.
A software update was performed, but NHTSA intervened. Mercedes-Benz had aimed to partially address the issue with a wireless OTA software update announced last August. This step, intended to reduce the sensitivity of the problem, has been implemented for approximately 62% of affected vehicles. It is also known that a safety recall was initiated in Korea due to similar display issues. The company reviewed the effectiveness of the update with the NHTSA and, after the NHTSA highlighted its safety-focused approach, decided to follow official procedures.
THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS. Mercedes-Benz officials state that no accidents or injuries have been reported related to the screen malfunction, but they acknowledge a significant increase in warranty claims, field reports, and service records, emphasizing their commitment to safety.
