The personnel involved will drive vehicles in heavy Istanbul traffic and record different driving scenarios; the aim is to train the FSD algorithms to suit local dynamics. Elements specific to Turkey, such as traffic signs, road structures, and pedestrian movements, will be integrated to ensure the developed system offers a safer experience for Turkish drivers.
The job advertisement requires candidates to have at least 4 years of active driving experience and a clean driving record, while also specifying skills such as advanced attention span and English language proficiency. Furthermore, computer literacy and familiarity with driver assistance systems (ADAS) are considered important requirements.
Progress in Türkiye is expected to accelerate in parallel with the European approval process. The decision by the Dutch regulatory body RDW to initiate the approval process for the usability of FSD across the EU could give impetus to the process, which will officially begin in May. If the test results are positive and a majority of member states support it, regulations for type approval will come into effect across the EU. It is anticipated that FSD will be active across the EU this year, and that Türkiye will also implement EU traffic rules.
