A new seven-seater configuration for the Tesla Model Y has been launched in the European market. The third row of seats is available for an additional fee on the Long Range All-Wheel Drive (AWD) option, with deliveries starting in April. The seven-seater model can now be ordered in Germany, France, Spain, and the Netherlands, with a price increase from €52.990 to €55.490.
In this configuration, luggage capacity is significantly limited: there is 381 litres of luggage space behind the rear seats; while this is enough for two carry-on bags, when the rear seats are folded down the total volume reaches 894 litres, approaching the standard 5-seater model. Furthermore, since the third row seats have the same 2.890 mm wheelbase as the standard models, the space in this section remains relatively small and is mostly considered a more suitable option for small children.
Initially offered in the US, this version faced low demand. In the Chinese market, Tesla quietly discontinued this option and launched the longer wheelbase Model YL; this model is also expected to be launched in Europe.
