With the goal of making electric mobility more accessible, Skoda Auto CEO Klaus Zellmer, following the opening of the new battery production line, sees this step as a milestone in line with the company's decarbonization commitments. Updating the product range, as well as improving the supply chain, production, and energy use in line with standards, supports the emission reduction targets. Strengthening scaled production locally with the new battery system creates a robust and competitive European supply chain and reinforces the vision of making electric mobility more accessible. Furthermore, Skoda aims to double its electric vehicle portfolio and anticipates reducing CO₂ emissions by approximately 274.000 tons by 2027.

With a daily production capacity of over 1.100 cells per unit, the facility's annual capacity approaches 335.000 units, and the Mlada Boleslav headquarters works in coordination with the battery technology center. This step is central to Skoda's electrification strategy, supporting the rapid implementation of innovative technologies.
Durable and cost-effective battery solutions. The battery systems that will emerge from the new production line will be used in Skoda models and different segments of the group brands; the annual production capacity at the main plant will enable the production of up to 200.000 electric vehicles. Thanks to the standardization of the cells, the execution of production processes in-house, and the use of LFP chemicals, approximately 200,000 units of battery will be produced compared to existing MEB batteries. percent 30 The goal is to provide a cost advantage.

High automation and advanced production technologies The new facility, covering 55.000 square meters, was built in approximately one year. The production line boasts a 60-second cycle time, an automation rate of 84 percent, and houses a total of 131 robots. All processes, from cell processing and sorting to precision welding and final assembly, are carried out using state-of-the-art technologies. This infrastructure raises efficiency and quality standards on an industrial scale. Skoda's battery production experience, built on accumulated knowledge since 2019, strengthens the foundation of this new investment and contributes to maintaining the Czech Republic's position as a hub for automotive production in Europe in the long term.
Electrification is gaining momentum. Skoda, aiming to more than double its sales of fully electric vehicles by 2025, is gaining strength with the Elroq, the second most preferred fully electric car model in Europe. Planning to double its fully electric product range by 2026, the brand aims to reach a wider audience while strengthening its position in the upper segment. The new Epiq model, with its world launch in mid-2026, aims to offer more affordable electric mobility. The Peaq, Skoda's first E-segment SUV, will be positioned in the upper segment, thus offering a wider range of products across different segments.
