Chinese automotive giant Chery has officially launched its Jaecoo brand in Germany, a key component of its global expansion strategy. According to Michael Powers, the Jaecoo 7 SHS, the brand's first model in Europe, aims to revolutionize the compact crossover segment with its hybrid technology and competitive pricing.
Price Advantage and Rich Features
The Jaecoo 7, launched in the German market as the “First Edition” series, is offered in two different trim options. The “Select” package, starting at €36.900, includes standard features such as large alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, and an advanced navigation system. The “Exclusive” version, priced at €39.500, enhances comfort with premium details such as a panoramic roof and a head-up display (HUD). This pricing strategy demonstrates the brand's targeting of the mainstream market rather than a niche audience.
Innovative Hybrid Architecture and Safety
The Jaecoo 7 SHS uses a unique hybrid system centered around a 204 horsepower electric motor. In this system, where the gasoline engine typically acts as a generator, the vehicle offers a 90-kilometer range on electric power alone, minimizing fuel consumption in daily city driving. Chery addresses any potential concerns about a new brand with a robust warranty package; offering a seven-year warranty on the vehicle and an eight-year warranty on the battery, aiming to gain the trust of European consumers.
