Chery, China's leading automotive exporter, has been awarded Carwow's 2026 "Car of the Year" award for its SUV model, the TIGGO8.
The new TIGGO8, now in its 4th generation, has been awarded by Carwow. Despite having been on sale in the UK for only a few months, the Chery TIGGO8 has won one of the country's most prestigious automotive awards, being named "Car of the Year".
The Chery TIGGO8 was awarded top honors, with the jury describing it as “the best of the best,” highlighting its spacious interior, rich equipment, and exceptional value for families seeking a modern seven-seater SUV. “Chery’s entry into the UK market couldn’t be more impressive,” said Mat Watson, Carwow’s Content Director.
“The TIGGO8 is one of those cars that looks almost too good to be true: a premium-feeling SUV offering plenty of space for seven passengers, all the luxury equipment you could want, but at almost the same price as a European hatchback. If a Chinese car has a chance to conquer the market, it should be this one – it offers unbeatable value and definitely goes far beyond the typical budget-friendly family car feel.”
Chery UK CEO Gary Lan stated that winning the title at Carwow's 'Car of the Year' Awards was an incredible achievement, adding, “But being named overall 'Car of the Year' goes beyond that. It's a real validation of what the Chery TIGGO8 represents and how it contributes to the 'Find Your Happy' experience for drivers. This award shows the powerful impact the vehicle has had on both experts and customers.”
