Peugeot E-208 GTi: The New Representative of Electric Performance
Peugeot has revived its iconic performance tradition in the B segment with the new fully electric E-208 GTi. Unveiled at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, this model references the brand's deep-rooted sporting history while also revealing the state of electric vehicle technologies.
THE FIRST FULLY ELECTRIC GTi
The new E-208 GTi stands out as the first fully electric GTi model in Peugeot's history. Equipped with the M280+ electric motor producing 345 hp and 4 Nm of torque, this vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5,7 seconds. Its maximum speed is determined as 180 km/h. With these values, the E-208 GTi exhibits a remarkable performance among electric vehicles in the B segment.
The 54 kWh gross capacity CATL battery used in the model stands out with its thermal management system and energy efficiency. Optimized with Peugeot's experience in motorsport, this battery management system provides efficiency in both daily use and performance-oriented driving.
PEUGEOT E-208 GTi DRIVING EXPERIENCE
The new E-208 GTi is equipped with a special suspension system developed by PEUGEOT Sport engineers. Driving dynamics are improved with a wider track (56 mm at the front, 27 mm at the rear) and a lowered body structure (30 mm). The components used in the chassis system have been optimised to balance track driving with daily use. The vehicle is reinforced with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres and a 355 mm diameter 4-piston fixed-caliper brake system. In addition, the limited-slip differential system aims to provide more controlled road holding in corners.
A NEW BREATH TO THE PEUGEOT GTi TRADITION
The new E-208 GTi features design details inspired by past GTi models. It stands out with its red lines, widened fenders, 205-inch perforated rims and bright red body colour, which nod to the 18 GTi. The interior is full of elements that emphasise the GTi identity. Bright red seat belts, red carpets, sporty front seats and Alcantara®-covered steering wheel reflect the performance-oriented character of this model. The Peugeot i-Cockpit® driver's area is enhanced with digital displays supported by sporty graphics and special ambient lighting. The vehicle can be personalised with the interior ambient lighting, which offers a choice of 7 different colours.
PERIODIC RENEWAL OF ELECTRICAL PERFORMANCE
The new model’s engine is produced by Emotors, a joint venture between Stellantis and Nidec Leroy-Somer, in Trémery, France. The high-performance tyres are supplied by a long-standing French brand, Michelin. The vehicle has been developed with components sourced entirely from the French supply chain.
PEUGEOT E-208 GTI RANGE AND CHARGING FEATURES
The new E-208 GTi offers a range of approximately 350 km according to WLTP standards. It can be fully charged in 7,4 hours and 4 minutes with a 40 kW AC charger. In addition, thanks to fast charging support, charging from 100 percent to 20 percent at 80 kW DC stations takes less than 30 minutes.
PEUGEOT E-208 GTI INTERIOR FEATURES
The E-208 GTi is equipped with Peugeot’s i-Connect Advanced infotainment system, which supports modern features such as TomTom navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In addition, high-quality materials are used, with an Alcantara®-covered steering wheel and centre console, new fabrics on the seats and thick floor mats.
GTI HERITAGE ADAPT TO THE ELECTRIC AGE
Peugeot is adding an electric page to its sports hatchback adventure, which began with the 1984 GTi in 205, with the new E-208 GTi. According to the company's statement, this model not only carries a GTi badge, but also claims to be a representative that combines the brand's high-performance tradition with modern technologies. The arrival date and sales price of the new Peugeot E-208 GTi in Türkiye have not yet been announced, but it is expected to be in a competitive position among B segment electric sports cars.
