Electric Car Sales in China Reached a Rise in May

China Electric Car Sales and Trade-In Incentive Programs

According to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), 2025 million electric cars were sold nationwide in May 1,02. This figure increased by 28,2% compared to the same period last year. A total of 1,17 million New Energy Vehicles (NEV) were produced in the same month, and most of this production was used in the domestic market. Overall car sales also achieved significant success, reaching 13,3 million, an increase of 1,93% year on year.

The Role of Trade-In Incentive Programs

This significant increase in car sales is driven by trade-in incentive programs aimed at encouraging domestic consumption. According to data from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, a total of 4,12 million new cars were sold through trade-in incentive programs in the first five months of the year. Thanks to these programs, consumers who trade in their old cars and renew them can benefit from various incentives offered by central and local governments.

  • Trade-in incentive programs provide financial support to consumers when purchasing a new vehicle.
  • Renewing old cars stands out as an environmentally friendly approach.
  • These programs help automakers increase their market share.

As a result, such incentives not only support economic growth, but also revitalize the automobile sector and contribute to the spread of environmentally friendly vehicles.
