Citroen Begins Production with New C3
Citroen will officially begin production of its best-selling model, the new C3, at the Stellantis plant in Kragujevac, Serbia. According to the company, the plant will be modernized in the 2022-2024 period, made compatible with the new 'Smart Car' platform and prepared for the production of electric models, within the framework of the agreement signed between Stellantis and the Serbian Ministry of Economy.
This facility, which employs more than a thousand people, ensures high quality and efficiency by using automated and robot-assisted production lines. This strategic decision of the company aims to offer a compact, versatile and affordable model manufactured in Europe.
Ranked Second in the French Market
Citroen’s new C3 model has been designed to target an affordable price level at every stage, from the simplicity of its design to the choice of production points, from the new ‘Smart Car’ platform on which it is produced to the vehicle equipment. The new C3 reached European sales points in the last quarter of 2024 and has already received over 130 orders.
As of the first quarter of this year, the model, which was in third place in the French and Italian markets, has achieved significant success in electric car sales in France, rising to second place. Since its introduction, the C3 has sold 30% of its electric version. Production in Serbia supports production at the Trnava plant in Slovakia, where the new C3 Aircross is currently being launched.
More Comfort and More Space
Citroen's new C3 model offers users more comfort with the 'Citroen Advanced Comfort' suspension system, 'Advanced Comfort' seats and the 'C-Zen Lounge' concept on the front console. The model, which has a compact structure while preserving the SUV design codes, provides more space and easy cabin access.
The new C3 has been designed as a fully electric vehicle and also offers a user-friendly alternative with its hybrid options. These features increase Citroen’s competitiveness in the modern car market and provide an environmentally friendly transportation option.
