Türkiye Holds an Important Position in the World in Electric Vehicle Sales
According to data from the UK-based independent research organization New AutoMotive, Türkiye is among the top 10 markets in the world in terms of electric vehicle sales. This situation stands out as an important indicator of Türkiye's transformation in the automotive sector.
Record Sales in April
In April 2025, a total of 977 electric vehicles were sold globally. This figure constituted the highest April sales figure of all time and showed a 29% increase compared to the same period last year.

Türkiye: Mediterranean's Electric Vehicle Leader
With its sales performance in April, Turkey is the leader among Mediterranean countries. It has achieved regional success, leaving behind countries such as Spain, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia and Greece. In addition, the market share of battery electric vehicles has been above 8% for the last 10 months, which supports Türkiye's growth in the electric vehicle market.
Left Norway Behind, Target Netherlands
In the last 12 months, Turkey sold 123.982 electric vehicles, surpassing Norway. This success helped Türkiye rise to 8th place in the global rankings. The Netherlands is just ahead of Türkiye with 129.560 sales in the same period.
Record: December 2024
Türkiye reached its highest level in electric vehicle sales with 2024 units in December 17.894. This figure made Türkiye the 6th country with the most electric vehicle sales in the world that month.
Praise from New AutoMotive CEO
New AutoMotive CEO Ben Helmes highlighted Türkiye’s “impressive rise” in the electric vehicle market, describing it as a “major growth story” in the European automotive scene. Helmes stated that the following factors played a role in this success:

- Success of local brands like Togg
- Expanding charging infrastructure
- Increasing variety of models
- The impact of rising fuel prices
Helmes stated that they expect the electric vehicle market in Türkiye to continue its strong growth in the coming period.
