The Success of Opel Corsa
Opel's representative in the B hatchback class, the Corsa, has reached more than 1 million sales worldwide. According to the company's statements, the Corsa is highly appreciated by both customers and experts. The current F generation of the Corsa, which came off the production line in Zaragoza, Spain in 2019, achieved significant sales momentum in a short time and managed to reach this impressive figure.
Demand for the Corsa continued to rise in the first quarter of 2023. New vehicle registrations in Europe increased by 18% quarter-on-quarter. Since the first generation was introduced in 1982, around 15 million Corsas have been sold worldwide.
Best Selling Model for 4 Years in a Row
According to statistics from the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) in Germany, the current-generation Corsa has held the title of the country’s best-selling small car for the past four years. The Corsa also became the best-selling car in its segment in the UK for three consecutive years from 4 to 2021. The model maintained its leadership in the B segment in these two markets in the first quarter of the year.
- In the January-March 2025 period, Corsa ranked in the top 3 in its segment in Croatia, the Netherlands, Norway and Slovenia.
- In Greece, it became the best-selling passenger car in the entire market in 2023.
Florian Huettl, CEO of Opel & Vauxhall and General Manager of Stellantis Germany, whose views were included in the statement, emphasized that the sales figure of one million units from the current generation shows how much the Corsa is loved by its customers. Huettl said, “With its lively design, accessible advanced technologies and compact structure, the Corsa manages to appeal to even the most diverse customer groups. This unique combination makes the Corsa the basic guarantee of success in our product portfolio.”
